Today, Decolonizing Wealth Project (DWP) announced $1.5M in grants awarded in 2025 through its Case4Reparations Fund, bringing the organization's total investment in the reparations movement to over $12M since 2021. Powered by Liberated Capital, DWP's giving community and funding vehicle, this latest round supported 22 Black-led organizations advancing reparative advocacy and economic justice initiatives across the U.S. The Fund has now supported 57 organizations.
The Fund provides flexible funding to support Black-led organizing and advocacy for economic repair and solidarity across the United States. Since its inception, Case4Reparations grantee partners' work has resulted in significant policy and community-level wins including the permanent creation of the Cook County Promis Guranteed Income with a $7.5M budget allocation; the establishment of Chicago's first municipal Reparations Task Force with $500,000 budget allocation; the introduction of reparations legislation in California and a $12 million budget allocation for state-based efforts; the City of Lakeland, MD directing $400,000 towards reparative initiatives; the establishment of New Jersey's Reparations Council; and most recently, the passage of New York State's Reparations Bill.
"Economic solidarity is at the heart of our work at DWP—the understanding that our economic futures are interconnected and that we must resource movements working to dismantle exploitative systems and build shared prosperity," said Edgar Villanueva, Founder and CEO of the Decolonizing Wealth Project. "Reparative giving is the cornerstone of our 10-year, $1 trillion Moonshot strategy, and this fund demonstrates this commitment in action by investing in the Black reparations movement doing transformative work for economic justice."
"What we're seeing across cities and states is undeniable: local reparations wins are building the foundation for national transformation," said Katelyn Johnson, Executive Director, BlackRoots Alliance and Advisory Committee Member of Decolonizing Wealth Project's Case4Reparations Fund. "The Case4Reparations grantee partners are igniting social change by demonstrating what's possible when our leaders are resourced and when organizations invest in the healing and economic justice needed for everyone to thrive."
